X-WR-CALDESC:Wendy Van de Poll\, BA\, MS\, is\, as she readily admits\, “wi
ldly creative and deeply committed.” For decades\, she has expressed her c
reativity and her commitment to Nature through a multitude of media. From
fine art and massage therapy for humans\, horses\, and hounds\, to writing
bestsellers\, fiber collage\, and thread painting\, her creative life has
always been rooted in a deep curiosity about animals and the natural worl
d.\nWith training in wild canine biology\, particularly wolves and coyotes
\, her journey took her from the harsh winters of Minnesota to the forests
of southern New Hampshire and many places in between. Along the way\, she
honed her ability to observe\, understand\, and communicate with animals.
\nWith a specialization in pet loss grief\, she also helps people maintain
a deep connection with the animals they love\, both present and recently
departed.\nThe work in this exhibition reflects all of these threads of he
r life. Beyond the intricate detail that can seem almost impossible to ach
ieve with fabric and thread\, Van de Poll seeks to breathe life into the a
nimals she depicts—to capture something of their presence and invite the v
iewer into a deeper relationship with the wild.\nSee for yourself\, and en
joy meeting these remarkable animals through her work.
