Chantal Schamber

Chantal Schamber

Chantal is our current Avian Research Technician. She previously worked for TMCC last year as an Avian Research Intern and is excited to have returned for the 2025 field season. During her time here, Chantal is interested in delving deeper into nest searching, tracking, and tagging for our Wood Thrush Motus project. She is also looking forward to studying how forest management impacts bird species presence and abundance.

Chantal originally hails from Alberta, Canada, but grew up in Massachusetts where she developed a strong passion for conserving northeastern natural communities. She has experience working throughout the northeast on conservation projects, avian research, and endangered species management. Outside of field research, Chantal enjoys many hobbies, including sewing, drawing, bird watching, and hiking. At TMCC, you can find her sitting in her hammock on the cabin porch or in the woods, exploring.

Education: B.S. Wildlife and Fisheries Biology; University of Vermont
