Intern Programs

Education Interns assist the education staff and participate in all aspects of the center’s operations and programs. They work with all ages, and with a variety of groups, including schools and the general public. They also assist in Nature Center operations including weekend festivals and events, curriculum and program development, and writing articles for the newsletter. Tin Mountain’s best interns have a strong desire to teach and share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural world. A background in education or the natural sciences is helpful but not necessary.

Research Interns work with the Research Program and assist with projects related to avian studies or stream ecology. The avian positions often include field activities such as point counts, mist-netting, nest box monitoring and vegetation assessments. Stream restoration positions include measuring stream attributes and quantifying macroinvertebrate diversity both before and after strategic woody additions.

  • Thank you for your interest! Our research positions have been filled for the 2025 season. (Due to modifications in our research program for this season, we did not have any positions to post, but please check back in the future!)
