Fire is an important part of life in the American west and essential for the health of the landscape, but as conditions have changed so have the frequency and intensity of wildfires in the nation. Come learn how firefighting agencies like the US Forest Service and others across the nation tackle the sometimes seemingly impossible task of managing wildland fires in the US. Clare Long, US Forest Service Public Information Officer, will share how the US Forest Service and other agencies fight wildland fires through a coordinated nationwide system. From the director at national headquarters to the firefighter digging line on the ground, discover the nuts and bolts of how we work to manage wildland fires on the landscape.
